Using Remote Desktop Connection

Remote Desktop Connection is an incredibly useful tool for connecting to your personal computer from another computer located on a local LAN or the Internet (depending on how it is setup on your organization). In this document, we will be concentrating on connecting remotely to a computer located on the same LAN. This will require the Full Computer Name of the workstation you wish to connect to. If you do not know the computer's Full Name, you can use the How to Find the Computer's Full Name document to assist you.

1. Run the Remote Desktop Connection application. The short can be found at All Programs | Applications | Communications | Remote Desktop Connection (or, if you click on Run and type in "mstsc" (without quotes) and hit enter).

2. Enter in the computer's Full Name into the dialog box

3. From this point, you can hit Connect and it will bring you to the login screen for your computer. Login as normal, and begin work as usual!
