Setting up a Network Share

1. The first thing you need to do is open up My Computer and browse your Local Disk ( C: ) by double-clicking on it.

2. You'll need to create a new folder for the Network share. Right click on a blank area inside the My Computer window, select New, then Folder. You may name this folder whatever you wish.

3. Right click on your newly created folder, and choose Sharing and Security.

4. Select to Share This Folder. Choose a name (this is the name that will appear when browsing the computer from the network). Hit the Permissions button and turn on the check box for Allow Full Access. Hit OK, and hit OK again. The Network Share is now setup on your computer.

Connecting to a Network Share

1. Click on Start, then Run. Type in 2 backslashes and then the Full Computer name (without spaces). If you do not know you full computer's name, go to the original computer setup with the Network folder, and follow the instructions in the How to Find the Computer's Full Name document.

2. If it asks you for a login and password, you'll need to enter in credentials that the Network folder's computer would accept. For example, my login is Chris. My domain is CYTEXONE. So the login information would be username: CYTEXONE\Chris and then the appropriate password.

3. Double click on the shared folder name you set before and you'll be able to access any file you have thrown into there.
